A German factory worker was arrested after stealing over a million screws from his employer and selling them over the Internet at a steep discount, Reuters reports.
“In the end, it became obvious that screws were being sold for much less than they usually cost,” explained a police spokesman in Wuerzburg.
Police say that over a two-year period, the 33-year-old man smuggled as many as 7,000 screws out of work each night by using a special hiding place, and then auctioned them online. The cumulative total of the theft was valued at $156,000. The company he worked for was not identified.
The man allegedly confessed his crime after officers raided his apartment. 2007 FastenerNews.com
