U.S. Fastener Imports from Taiwan Top $1.24b

Taiwan provided 41% of overall U.S. fastener imports in 2005, Fastener World reports. Taiwan exported 608,000 metric tons of industrial fasteners to the U.S., with a total value of $1.24 billion at $2.03 per kilogram.
Fasteners from China made up 27% of U.S. import consumption. China exported 406,000 metric tons of steel fasteners to the U.S. market, representing $552.6 million in value at $1.36 per kilogram.
Japan captured nearly 10% of the U.S. import market, with 144,800 metric tons totaling $579.4 million at $4 per kilogram.
Canada exported 135,700 metric tons of industrial fasteners to the U.S., capturing 9.2% of the market. Total imports from Canada reached $358.7 million in value at $2.64 per kilogram.
