Howmet Aerospace Inc. officially split from Arconic to become an independent company trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker “HWM.”

“Before acquiring KLX, Boeing was starting to invest in ways to be more integrated with customers’ parts stocking operations as a step to achieve this,” writes Lee Ann Shay of MRO-Network.com. “KLX already is doing that by being integrated in customers’ shop floors day to day through its bin stocking programs for OEMs, airlines and MRO.”
If a deal is reached, Arconic would become the second major aerospace fastener supplier to be acquired in recent months.
In May, Boeing agreed to acquire aerospace fastener supplier KLX’s Aerospace Solutions Group, for $4.25 billion. Just a few years ago, that could easily have been Wesco Aircraft.
Aerospace segment gains “driven by an approximate double-digit percentage increase in both commercial aerospace manufacturing and aftermarket revenues.”
“Our customers have long desired a supplier who could offer essentially 100 percent of their requirements for fasteners, consumables and expendables,” stated KLX CEO Amin Khoury.
Boeing reportedly has competed against at least one private-equity firm to secure a deal with KLX - the former B/E Aerospace fastener division, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Company has retained Goldman Sachs & Co. as financial advisor and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer US LLP as legal advisor to assist in its review.
"ASG continued its market momentum with three new contract awards and market share gains valued at approximately $125 million in the aggregate."
Gains were driven by the contribution of Herndon’s military aftermarket business and increased aircraft maintenance activity.
The company said these new program awards represented “significant market share gains” and are initially valued at approximately $300 million in the aggregate.
“Organic revenue growth from our commercial aerospace manufacturing and aftermarket customers were up... partially offset by a decline in sales to military manufacturing customers.”
KLX - the former Consumables Management segment of B/E Aerospace - reported sales, primarily from fasteners, declined in 2015.
