STAFDA Publishes Guide to Business Security
The Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association published a training manual “The Executive’s Guide to Business Security.”
Employee theft is costing companies billions of dollars and escalates during a tough economy. “When workers feel threatened by rising living expenses, reductions in overtime and possible job loss, they may become your ‘silent partners’,” STAFDA warns. “Much of this crime is committed by trusted employees who take advantage of weaknesses in company controls and profit at their employer’s expense.”
The 112-page book by Barry Brandman of Danbee Investigations provides investigative, loss prevention and security consulting.
The 21 chapters include: Establishing security fundamentals; the seven deadly sins of security; the investigative equivalent of an x-ray; protecting your showroom; controlling inbound and outbound product theft; minimizing risk from professional thieves; dealing with workplace substance abuse; role of the Internet and new technology; how audits can prevent & detect security problems; and should you prosecute?
Brandman will present a workshop on security during STAFDA’s November 13-15, 2011 convention in San Antonio.
STAFDA members receive a copy of the handbook and may buy additional copies. Web: stafda.org ©2011 GlobalFastenerNews.com
