Sports, Music Featured at 37th STAFDA Convention
FEATURE
The Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association’s 37th annual convention opened Monday at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
Twice STAFDA has featured former U.S. presidents as speakers. STAFDA hosted two former presidents as convention speakers: Gerald Ford in 1980 in San Diego and Ronald Reagan in 1990 in Anaheim.
The unsuccessful 1996 Republican presidential nominee, Bob Dole, spoke to STAFDA in 1999.
This year sports overrides politics with Roy Firestone of ESPN interviewing football/sports commentator Terry Bradshaw, UConn coach Jim Calhoun and baseball manager Tony LaRussa as the featured speakers.
The opening party featured a concert by Earth, Wind & Fire.
On the business side the agenda includes conference sessions on: Company succession; avoiding legal pitfalls; purchasing practices; creating a company culture; leadership; and an economic forecast.
STAFDA president Rick Lamb will give the state-of-distribution address, followed by Scott MacKay of Husqvarna Construction Products speaking on manufacturing.
Founded in 1976, the story of STAFDA is in the Fastener History section of GlobalFastenerNews.com:
