�Bruce Wheeler is the new president of Star Stainless Screw Co., succeeding Wayne Golden.
Golden, now chairman, said he is not retiring and will be at Star most of the time, but �wants to spend more time at my house on the water in Amagansett, Long Island.�
Wheeler has been vice president for five years. His first job was in 1973 in the Star warehouse where his father, Bill Wheeler, had worked for decades. He moved to the sales desk and then opened Star�s Chicago branch in 1981.
Golden owns Star Stainless, which his father founded in 1950. Golden earned a bachelors degree from Rutgers University and an MBA from Columbia University. He joined Star Stainless in 1970.

�Vertex Fasteners/Stillwater Fasteners promoted Ed Simas to plant superintendent and William Donaghy to plant engineer. Both had started with Stillwater in 1977.
Founded in 1948, the Stillwater division of the new Vertex manufactures nonferrous and stainless steel male special and standard industrial fasteners. Pawtucket, RI-based Vertex was known as Pawtucket Fasteners LLC, until its owner, Main Street Resources, acquired West-Spec Partners and renamed the companies Vertex Fasteners (see FIN, June 10, 2003).
