� Abbott-Interfast Corp. and its sibling supplier, Steloc Fastener Co., received ISO 9001-2000 certification, vice president Bob Baer announced. Steloc also has QPL and QML certifications to provide nuts to military specifications.
Founded in 1948, Abbott-Interfast manufactures, imports and distributes fasteners. � Chuck Schultz is the new vice president for sales & marketing for Alcoa Fastening Systems commercial products worldwide, and Bart Preston is director of planning & performance, AFS commercial products president Don Busby announced.
Schultz had been president of the Alcoa Automotive Fasteners and will now be based in Cleveland. Preston was vice president and general manager of the AFS automotive product facilities in Park Forest, IL, and Valparasio, IN, and will now be based in Waco, TX.
Alcoa sold its Huck automotive fastener business to a group headed by Robert Kaminski (see FIN, February 24, 2004).

� Edward Conroy joined Fastco Threaded Products as director of finance. Conroy was senior tax accountant at Elliott Davis LLC in Columbia, SC, before joining Fastco.

Blueprints in a downloadable PDF format and accounting information will be added over the next two years.

� MRC Industrial Group Inc. formed a wholly foreign-owned subsidiary in China. MRC Industrial and Automotive (Kunshan) Co. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of MRC, will manufacture threaded fasteners in a 40,000 sq ft plant currently under construction in Kunshan, approximately one hour west of Shanghai.
�The company�s expansion into China is a crucial part of our strategy to provide our North American customer base with a broader range of high-quality, low-cost products,� MRC president Steven Engelman explained. �In addition, MRC�s establishment of manufacturing in China positions the company for future growth in one of the largest and fastest-growing markets in the world.�
The Kunshan operations will initially be focused on production of standard product, primarily male and female threaded parts. Longer-range plans call for the addition of more specialty parts and more finishing operations for specialty fasteners for the Chinese market.
Engelman also announced Steven Schulenburg is the new executive vice president and COO. Schulenburg, who previously was with SPS Technologies, Whitesell Corp. and Michigan Rivet, will be responsible for global tactical operations.

� Spirol International Corp. named James Shaw as CEO following the retirement of longtime CEO Hans Koehl, who will continue as non-executve chairman of the company. Shaw started working for Spirol in 1972 and has served as president since 1990.
Jeffrey Koehl will replace Shaw as president and COO. Jeff Koehl joined Spirol in 1997 and most recently served as vice president of the company.
