John Wolz
The U.S. Department of Commerce announced a new address for applications and documents for recording fastener insignia for the U.S. Fastener Quality Act: P.O. Box 16471, Arlington, VA 22215-1471.
The directors of the National Institute of Standards & Technology and the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office announced they were amending the FQA rules to provide that all documents submitted in connections with the recording of fastener insignia be mailed to a northern Virginia Post Office box near the Trademark office. The new rule is effective September 26, 2005.
The FQA requires the Secretary of Commerce to establish a program for recording identifying insignia of certain fasteners through the Patent & Trademark Office. One of rules established the Washington, D.C., post office box address.
“The efficiency of the insignia recordation program will be enhanced if documents submitted in connection with the program are mailed to a postal box that is close to the U.S. PTO’s headquarters in Alexandria, VA.”
The FQA is officially U.S. Public Law 101-592 as amended by Public Laws 104-113, 105-234 and 106-34. .
