Owner of C&C Fasteners Indicted for Fraud
Jason Sandefur
Raymond Cox, owner of C&C Fasteners and Cox and Cox Inc., was indicted in federal court for conspiracy to defraud the government, wire fraud and bribery related to Army projects at Fort Benning near Columbus, GA, according to the Associated Press. Army base manager James Cullefer, who supervised construction and payment for Fort Benning, was also indicted on the same charges.
AP reports that Cullefer allegedly used his influence to obtain kickbacks from Cox in exchange for preferential treatment. Cox’s companies gave Cullefer $78,000, in the form of checks and wire transfers, between January 1999 and November 2003, then recorded those payments as legitimate expenses, the indictment states. 2004 FastenerNews.com
