October Is National Quality Month in U.S.
October 2008 is the 24th annual National Quality Month in the U.S.
“One only needs to read the headlines we’ve seen over the past year to understand and acknowledge the critical importance that quality concepts and processes can play in today’s business landscape,” American Society for Quality president Roberto Saco said in reference to food safety, toy recalls and the mortgage crisis.
National Quality Month focuses on the strategic importance of quality and continuous improvement. Many organizations have created their own special events and recognition programs.
Started by ASQ in 1984, October became National Quality Month with a joint resolution by Congress and a presidential proclamation.
ASQ has more than 90,000 individual and organizational members, the association advances learning, quality improvement and knowledge exchange to improve business results and to create better workplaces and communities worldwide. ASQ is a founding partner of the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), a prominent quarterly economic indicator and also produces the Quarterly Quality Report.
