NIFMSE Raises Prices 1,100% For Manufacturers to Attend

The National Industrial Fastener & Mill Supply Expo raised the basic advance registration fee for manufacturers to attend from $50 in 2010 to $600 to attend the 2011 trade show.

The early registration fee for distributors and independent sales reps is $40 until August 26. Then advance distributor registration is $50 and $60 onsite.

Early registration for “service” and “supplier” categories, including manufacturers, master distributors and manufacturer reps is $500. The standard advance fee is $600 and onsite is $700.

The traditional November events are earlier this year and at a new location: October 19-21, 2011, at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas.

Show co-owner Jim Bannister said the new manufacturer price is a response to paying exhibitors’ complaints about non-exhibitors selling from the aisles.

“We instituted a ‘no suit casing’ policy at our fastener industry expos a number of years ago and have tried our best to enforce this rule, including having a floor manager on our staff to watch for violators,” Bannister told GlobalFastenerNews.com.

“Despite all of our efforts, too many expo visitors have unfairly taken advantage of our exhibitors by selling in the aisles and elsewhere in and around the Expo without paying for the privilege. Our exhibitors have complained and we have responded.”

Show management checked policies of other trade shows and “we arrived at a fair and reasonable fee for those persons who are visiting the Expo for purposes other than shopping and buying products and services from our exhibitors.”

Bannister noted that “many trade shows don’t allow manufacturers to attend their expos at any price.”
