A new 50,000 sq ft factory for UK West Midlands fastener manufacturer Barton Coldform is due for completion by the end of 2006, Fastener & Fixing Europe reports.
Since emerging from a management buyout in 1999, Barton Coldform has virtually tripled its turnover to a projected 9million (US$16.4 million) this year. About 97% of production is dedicated to the automotive sector, supplying special parts to customer specifications. The company employs 125, operating an extensive range of cold heading and CNC capability.
Managing director Paul Denning says the move will enable the company to reorganize production flow while consolidating all operations at a single site.
“We have just won our first order from Nanjing Automotive (buyers of the Rover car group),” Denning stated. Nanjing awarded Barton Coldform 50% of their requirement for a “key engine part.”
Denning insists that constant investment is at the core of being competitive, supported by specialist funding targeted at improving efficiency in the UK automotive supply chain. Web: bartoncoldform.co.uk 2006 FastenerNews.com and Fastener & Fixing Europe
