Manufacturing Day 2017
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers announced it is joining with companies, students, professional business associations and government leaders from around the nation to celebrate Manufacturing Day – Friday, October 6, 2017.
MfgDay.com lists 2,564 events for this year.
Manufacturing Day, which occurs the first Friday of October, focuses public attention on the significant role of manufacturing in economic sustainability and growth, while highlighting the many career paths in the field for young people. Initiated in 2012, Manufacturing Day brings together leaders and stakeholders for a daylong celebration consisting of company tours, presentations at schools, career workshops, and other events and festivities.
“ASME pays tribute to Manufacturing Day and the collective effort to heighten public awareness of manufacturing,” said Charla K. Wise, president of ASME. “As an organization with ongoing outreach programs focused on students, we are especially encouraged to see career programs that are part of the celebration.”
Industrial Fasteners Institute managing director Rob Harris said that a dozen members are opening their doors for student visits. Founded in 1931, the IFI currently lists 76 manufacturing members with 63 subsidiaries; four aerospace distribution affiliates and 60 supplier associate members. Web: indfast.org
