Magazine Honors Inventor of Self-Adhesive Screw Cap Cover
A one-time cabinetmaker who invented a self-adhesive screw cap and build FastCap to $10 million in sales, won the Seattle magazine Executive of the Year award.
As a cabinetmaker, Paul Akers got an idea for a self-adhesive screw cap cover.
He and his wife, Leanne Akers, started FastCap in 1997 in their garage in Bellingham, WA.
Akers has turned the adhesive covers into a 70-employee, Bellingham, WA-based online business selling adhesive strips, glues and small tools for woodworking and construction.
Today FastCap employees from entry-level to engineers are urged to make a “two-second improvement every day” and as a result, “our company is rocketing,” Akers said with “innovation, opportunity, eliminating waste and improving quality.”
Akers has scaled Mt. Whitney three times and conducts a weekly radio show – American Innovator. Akers ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate in 2010 and then founded LeanAmerica.com Web: FastCap.com
