Iwata Bolt USA, the American branch of a Japanese company that makes automotive fasteners for Honda and Nissan, plans to spend $4.1 million to build a 115,000 sq ft office, manufacturing plant and distribution center in Fairfield, OH, the Middletown Journal reports.
With the help of a local tax abatement, IBUSA will spend a total of $10.5 million in the move, adding more than 50 jobs to the area as the company consolidates its plants in Vandalia and Garden Grove, CA, where it’s currently headquartered.
“Most of the products come to this area,” said Akira Kayama, executive vice president of IBUSA. “That’s why we decided to move the factory from California to this area.” IBUSA’s major customers are OEMs with plants in Indiana, Kentucky and Georgia.
Construction will begin in October, with completion expected next summer.
Iwata has been in business for 58 years and operates 30 branches in Japan and 20 others in Southeast Asia and the U.S. Annual sales reach $400 million, including $60 million in the U.S. Web: iwatabolt.co.jp 2007 FastenerNews.com
