IFI Creates Industry Awards

The Industrial Fasteners Institute announced a new awards program to recognize individuals who have contributed significantly to the fastener manufacturing industry.
There will be three categories: the Roy P. Trowbridge Technology Award; George S. Case Sr. Meritorious Service Award; and the William E. Ward Leadership Award.
Trowbridge was a director of engineering standards at General Motors and president of ANSI. Case was president/chairman of Lamson & Sessions Company and from 1931 to 1933 served as the first IFI chairman. Ward was president and general manager of Russell, Burdsall & Ward Bolt & Nut Company and IFI chairman for 1964-65.
The industry is invited to submit nominations of individuals who have �advanced the stature, technology and/or application engineering of fasteners/formed parts. Candidates may be fastener company representatives, suppliers, end users or from the government or education fields.
Areas in which candidates should have contributed to the industry include: standardization, quality assurance, government relations, user/producer interfaces, education, publications and information, technical practices, supplier relations, detection of hydrogen embrittlement, management/employee practices, leadership, industry relations, or improvements in raw materials, tooling, machinery, platings, lubricants and related concepts.
Nominations must be submitted by September 1, 2000, to the IFI Awards Committee, 1717 E. Ninth St., #1105, Cleveland, OH 44114-2879.
