Hytorc opened its new automated distribution and shipping center in South Hackensack, NJ.

“We are very proud to announce the grand opening of our new facility in South Hackensack, NJ – The John K. Junkers International Distribution Center!” the company posted on its Facebook page.

“The company is hoping the multimillion-dollar investment will spur growth and also be a reminder of its past and Hytorc’s founder,” writes Joan Verdon of The Record.

John K. Junkers, who founded Hytorc in 1968, died in 2014. Sons Jason, Eric and Tyson Junkers now manage the company.

The new 51,000 sq ft facility will employ about 40 people and “replaces a warehouse and shipping center in Mahwah that was ‘very manual,’ Jason Junkers said, describing a warehouse where workers had to use forklifts to reach products stored on high shelves,” writes Verdon.

“Guys were spending hours sometimes searching all the shelves to find the right bin,” Jason Junkers told the Record.

The new distribution center uses an automated conveyor belt system installed by Dematic, a company in Michigan. The system utilizes a shuttle system that “takes half the floor space to store products, because the space between shelves only has to be wide enough for a narrow conveyor belt, the Record reports.

Hytorc manufactures hydraulic torque wrenches, power packs, and accessories. The company is headquartered in Mahwah, NJ. Web: hytorc.com
