Hotels Deals Abound Near NIFS/West

Las Vegas hotel prices have plummeted during the National Industrial Fastener Show/West.
Hotels in less than a mile from the November 2-4, 2008, trade show at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center range from $35 for Hooters to $442 at Four Seasons for Sunday and Monday nights.
Well-known hotels include: MGM Grand $90; New York New York $77; and Monte Carlo $69 online.
Even Luxor, which is attached to Mandalay Bay, is just $65 on Hotels.com. Show management negotiated at $165 is now just $65 on Hotels.com.
Recent rates at other nearby hotels are: The Hotel at Mandalay Bay $230; Mandalay Bay $220; Marriott Residence Inn $170; Marriott Courtyard $155; Marriott Fairfield Inn $145; Desert Rose $126; Excalibur $51; Tropicana $47; Travelodge $41 and Wild Wild West $39.
Las Vegas hotels are frequently most expensive on the weekends and NIFS’ Sunday start to the conferences could require show participants to pay for the more expensive Saturday night stay.
However, those arriving Sunday will find a variety of cheaper rates among Las Vegas’ 132,947 hotel rooms.
One NIFS exhibitor bringing a full staff said he was given a $120 rate at Mandalay Bay by negotiating directly with the hotels instead of the official fastener rate of $219 for “run of the house” and $285 for “executive suites.”
