Henkel’s Adhesive Sales Jump

Henkel reported sales at the Adhesive Technologies segment jumped 31.8% during the third quarter of 2008, primarily due to the acquisition of the Adhesives and Electronic Materials businesses of National Starch. Nominal sales growth increased 26.2% to EUR 1.86 billion (US$2.38 billion), with organic growth gaining 3.6%. Operating profit rose 8.1% to EUR 169 million (US$216.3m). “The products for industrial maintenance, repair and operations under the Loctite brand again posted positive results,” the company stated.
Sales in North America edged up 0.3% to EUR 727 million (US$930.6m), though regional adhesive sales declined slightly.
In July 2008 Henkel of America Inc. relocated its North American corporate headquarters from Gulph Mills, PA, to Rocky Hill, CT. Henkel’s Adhesive Technologies business is also headquartered in Rocky Hill.
Overall Q3 Henkel sales grew 12% to EUR 3.76 billion (US$4.8b).
