FEATURE
A $75/short ton price hike in US wire rod prices was announced by ArcelorMittal and Keystone Steel & Wire.
However spot prices for domestic wire rod have stabilized, with end-users concerned about absorbing the latest price increase.
Overseas, wire rod prices have risen.
In Italy wire rod approaches EUR 600 per ton, with local producers trying to increase prices by additional EUR 15 per ton, SteelGuru reports.
Taiwan’s China Steel Corp. signaled price hikes for wire rod coming in March.
“Affected by CSC’s unchanged prices of wire rod for March 2011, it is predicted that the price hike of EF Al killed wire rod may be reduced below TWD 1,000 per ton,” according to SteelGuru. ©2011 GlobalFastenerNews.com
