Fort Worth Bolt & Tool Company started in 1949 as a retailer of fasteners and tools on the western edge of downtown. The neighborhood just west of downtown has changed and the home of Texas distributor for more than six decades have been sold to owners who plan to renovate the buildings for offices.

Fort Worth Bolt & Tool, owned and operated by the Russell family since 1979, will move in 2013. A new location has not been announced.

Moore Acquisition Partners bought the adjacent two-story, 17,000 sq ft circa-1925 Packard Motor Co. dealership building that was once part of the city’s auto row.

A partnership bought the Fort Worth Bolt building at 2800 Bledsoe St. and will create office space.

Lee Russell told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram it no longer works to have an industrial business in the heart of a neighborhood that is becoming more residential with lots of shopping and restaurants. “It was a hard decision because we’ve been there so long,” she told Star-Telegram reporter Sandra Baker.

Since Jim Russell died in 2011, Fort Worth Bolt is now owned and operated by Lee Russell, who worked with her husband for his 35 years.

Fort Worth Bolt also has stocking locations in Dallas and Denton. Web: fwbt.net ©2012 GlobalFastenerNews.com
