Former K-Tech Owners Form Holbrook Mfg.

The former owners of K-Tech Mfg are now producing fasteners as Holbrook Mfg. , president Gary VanderPoel announced.
Holbrook CEO Don Kuhns described the goal as “re-creating a QS 9000 company that has all the capability of a large manufacturer but the talent and responsiveness of an experienced owner operated shop.”
K-Tech was sold to Mascotech in 1998 in hopes of continuing 10 years of double-digit growth with the financial backing of the new parent company. “After three years of harsh cost cutting, plant closing, layoffs and corporate consolidations, the former owners of K-Tech had left the company with the realization that bigger is not always better,” Kuhns explained.
Holbrook starts with 50 employees who have an average of 20 years of fastener experience. Holbrook has an 80,000 sq ft plant in Wheeling, IL with more than 40 cold headers and automatic screw machines, shavers and drillers, executive vice president of operations Bill Collopy said.
