Fastener Stocks Record Small Gain in 2005

Fastener stocks outperformed the competition in 2005, with the FIN Fastener Stock Index rising 3% compared with a 2.56% gain by an index of related stocks.
B/E Aerospace led the pack, reporting an 89% jump in its stock price. B/E has more than quadrupled its share price in the past two years. Paulin also had a strong stock performance in 2005, with its share price climbing 45% in the past 12 months. Paulin has posted yearly stock price gains since 2001.
Other fastener companies whose share value increased in 2005 include Aviall, Anixter, Barnes, Honeywell, Nucor and Textron.
Some fastener companies were not so fortunate. Park-Ohio stock slid 45.4% after three years of share price growth. Other fastener firms reporting share price declines included Alcoa, Black & Decker, Danaher, General Electric, ITW, Kaydon, Chicago Rivet and Lawson.
