Fastener search engine e-fastener.com announced it will cease operations on January 31, 2009.
“While traffic to the site has remained strong, with greater than 100,000 page views per month and loyal users across the industry, the rapid growth of sister company, Fastener Superstore Inc. (fastenersuperstore.com), has shifted the company’s focus and resources away from e-fastener.com,” the company stated.
Founded in 1997 by Greg Fields and John Barnicle, Chicago-based e-fastener.com reports 14,000 registered users. In addition to running the site, the company developed sites for Manufacturers Fastener World (m-f-w.com), Fastener Barn (fastenerbarn.com) and other firms.
“It’s been a great experience,” Fields said. “We’ve met a log of great people in the industry, done a lot of interesting things because of e-fastener.com.”
During the late 1990s the site was purchased by dot.com startup Partini Inc., which sold e-fastener.com back to Fields in 2001. E-mail: info@e-fastener.com Web: e-fastener.com 2008 FastenerNews.com
