Dörken MKS Systems Showcases New Coatings
The following is a press release provided to GlobalFastenerNews.com. Contact the individual company for additional information.
Grass Lake, MI–Dörken MKS Systems, the parent company of Dörken Corporation USA welcomed 230 visitors from four continents and 25 countries came to Düsseldorf recently to learn about its latest coatings developments. Visitors included representatives of the automotive industry, tier suppliers, licensed applicators and coating equipment manufacturers.
The event showcased the company’s research and development department, presented a number of innovative products and applications and a completely new electro-plating system.
During the event, the company showcased both ‘brand new’ developments in zinc flake technology and two completely new brands in the finishing market. Under the brand name Delta-Prozinc® the company presented a new generation of electro-plating systems, featuring high levels of efficiency, ecological sustainability and high anti-corrosion protection.
The company presented the new Delta-eLack® electro-coating system. Delta-eLack can work synergistically with either electro-plated coats of zinc / zinc alloys or of base coats from the DELTA-MKS® zinc flake portfolio as a topcoat. With this product a form of active cathodic corrosion protection specifically for high-volume small parts is achieved. What is unique about this product is the fact that even ‘small parts’, which were previously coated on a rack, can now be coated in bulk utilizing Dörken MKS application technology. The finished product produced is an attractive, shiny black surface with an even film formation.
The company also presented a new coating system that gives fastening elements highly effective and permanently black corrosion protection. The new coating, ideal for the automotive industry’s new complex specifications for high levels of corrosion resistance and optimized assembly properties against multiple bearing surfaces while also having a high quality look, consists of Delta-Protekt® KL 120 zinc flake basecoat with enhanced white rust resistance and hybrid water-based black topcoats Delta-Protekt® VH 321 GZ or VH 322 GZ – dependent upon the OEMs’ coefficient of friction requirements. The system was developed specifically for fastening elements in visible areas of cars.
The company welcomed as special guests, Joëlle Péchenard of AFFIX, the French Association of Mechanical Fastener Manufacturers (Association des fabricants des fixations mécaniques), Dr. Stefan Beyer, chief executive of the German Screw Fastener Association (Deutscher Schraubenverband) and Hua Quing Huang. The chairman of the Chinese Surface Coating Association gave a talk during the opening session on the development of zinc flake systems in China.
Dörken’s global coating solutions are approved for use by and meet the standards and specifications for corrosion protection, sealants, and lubricity performance of fasteners of vehicle manufacturers and Tier One suppliers worldwide yet are environmentally friendly. Its product development programs and manufacturing operations are certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 and to ISO 14001.
