Daido Steel To Buy More Steel from U.S.
Jason Sandefur
Ohio Star Forge’s parent company, Japanese specialty steel mill Daido Steel, plans to procure more steel products from U.S. suppliers as auto component demand outside Japan grows, Platts Commodity News reports.
Warren, OH-based Ohio Star Forge manufactures fasteners, bearings, wheel hub units and other automotive components. About 50% of the plant’s feedstocks are shipped from Japan.
“We want to procure more materials from the U.S. steelmakers,” stated Daido Steel president Masahiro Ozawa.
Officials said that they have no plans to set up additional plants, however. Web: daido.co.jp 2006 FastenerNews.com
