Congressman Speaking at M-WFA Meeting

U.S. Rep. Don Manzullo will speak to the Mid-West Fastener Association May 29, 2008, in Rockford, IL.

Manzullo recently announced a $750,000 federal taxpayer-funded grant for Camcar and Northern Illinois University to conduct joint research programs. The grant is in conjunction with Acument Global Technologies Inc.’s new Camcar Aerospace manufacturing facility in two renovated plants in Rockford (see FIN, April 1, 2008).

The MWFA meeting will begin with a 6 p.m. reception at Giovanni’s Restaurant in Rockford.

Manzullo, first elected in 1992, is a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific & the Global Environment. As chair of the U.S.-China Interparliamentary Exchange from 1999 to 2006, Manzullo challenged China on currency manipulation, piracy and illegal business subsidies. Manzullo co-chairs the House Manufacturing Caucus and is a member of the Council on Competitiveness” Steering Committee to the National Innovation Initiative, As chair of the U.S. House Committee on Small Business from 2001 to 2006, Manzullo held more than 60 hearings on the state of manufacturing in America and introduced numerous pieces of legislation to make U.S. companies more competitive.
