Chinese Fastener Imports and Exports Increase
Fastener activity (imports and exports) in China increased 1.6% to 274,200 tons in April, while the value dropped 1.8% to $657 million, according to ChinaFastener.com.
Exports from China totaled 248,639 tons, with the value falling 1.2% to $416 million during the month.
The top five consumers of Chinese fastener exports in April were the U.S. (49,953 tons valued at $87 million, with an average price of $1,742/ton); Russia (25,419 tons valued at $27.7 million, with an average price of $1,091/ton); Japan (11,240 tons valued at $22.2 million, with an average price of $1,975/ton); S. Korea (10,368 tons valued at $15.2 million, with an average price of $1,466/ton); and Vietnam (7,271 tons valued at $14.85 million, with an average price of $2,043/ton).
Guangdong Province achieved the highest prices for fastener exports, averaging $3,974/ton, according to Chinese Customs data.
Fastener imports to China totaled 25,528 tons, with the value declining 2.8% to $241 million in April, ChinaFastener.com reports.
The top five origins of Chinese fastener imports in April were Japan (7,670 tons valued at $68.3 million, with an average price of $8,902/ton); Germany (4,533 tons valued at $40.9 million, with an average price of $9,029/ton); the U.S. (2,968 tons valued at $34.6 million, with an average price of $11,582/ton); S. Korea (2,646 tons valued at $19.6 million, with an average price of $7,407/ton); and “Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu” (2,601 tons valued at $18.9 million, with an average price of $7,254/ton), according to ChinaFastener.com.
Guangdong Province paid the highest price for fastener imports, averaging $12,942/ton, according to Chinese Customs data.
In 2016, China’s fastener exports reached 2.75 million tons, with the value totaling $4.54 billion.
The top five fastener export destinations were the U.S. (561,179,890 kg valued at $901 million); Japan (139,731,889 kg valued at $261.9 million); Russia (197,636,670 kg valued at $211.3 million); Hong Kong (31,480,102 kg valued at $173 million); and South Korea (107,942,470 kg valued at $167.1 million).
China’s fastener imports totaled 303,528 tons in 2016, with the value of $2.94 billion.
The top five fastener import origins for China were Japan 89,353,438 kg valued at $803.3 million); Germany (54,396,689 kg valued at $500.1 million); the U.S. (27,845,593 kg valued at $346 million); South Korea (42,588,017 kg valued at $299.4 million); and Taiwan (29,169,541 kg valued at $213.4 million).
