Cardinal Fastener Moves Standard Nut & Bolt to Cleveland
Jason Sandefur
Cardinal Fastener & Specialty Company Inc. integrated Standard Nut & Bolt Co. from Rhode Island into its plant in Cleveland.
Denise Muha was recruited out of retirement to run the new company as general manager.
Cardinal Fastener purchased Standard Nut & Bolt in November 2005 and continued operating it from its location in Cumberland, RI, where it was founded 125 years ago.
“The plant in Rhode Island was very old and not conducive to the implementation of our Lean Thinking manufacturing principles,” stated COO Wendy Brugmann. “Relocating to Cleveland allowed us to establish manufacturing cells which are set up to provide customers extremely short lead times.”
Standard Nut has gives Cardinal Fastener the added product lines of stainless steel and exotic bolts and nuts, as well as the ability to manufacture and sell products to military specifications, including MIL I 45208 A and MIL DTL 1222 J.
Founded in 1968, Bedford Heights, OH-based Cardinal Fastener manufactures hot forged products from 3/8″ to 3″ diameter. Web: cardinalfastener.com 2007 FastenerNews.com
