Bryan Burgy of Rockford Fastener Inc. was elected chair of the Industrial Fasteners Institute and Edward Plomer Jr. of ITW Shakeproof/Anchor/Medalist is the new vice chair.
Burgy, president of Rockford Fastener Inc., succeeds Steve Beach of Acument Global Technologies. Burgy started in the fastener industry in 1978 as an engineer at Pioneer Screw & Nut after studying engineering technology at Eastern Illinois University. Burgy joined Metalist Champion Screw as engineering manager in 1982 and moved on to quality manager and plant manager. In 1993 Burgy started in sales at Rockford Fastener and he became president in 1999. He has been chair and vice chair of the IFI industrial fastener division.
New board members are Jonathan Turner, Turnasure LLC; Joe Varholick, Bristol Industries; Herman van Maaren, Kamax LP; and Ed Koneczny, Magni Group Inc.
Division chairs are: Division I/Industrial, John Grabner, Cardinal Fastener & Specialty Co. Inc.; Division II/Aerospace, Tom Rutan, B&B Specialties Inc/GS Aerospace, chair; Division III/Automotive, chair Kurt McKinney, SPS Technolgies, and Mark Quebbeman, Semblex Corporation, vice chair; Associates/Suppliers chair, Ed Koneczny, Magni Group, and Bruce Smith, Carpenter Technology Corp., vice chair.
The IFI is an association of North American manufactures of bolts, nuts, screws, rivets, pins, washer and custom formed parts, and suppliers.
