Bufab Picks Koumides to Head UK Fastener Operations
Swedish fastener group Bufab appointed Chris Koumides as managing director of its UK operation. Bufab’s UK business has been primarily a purchasing and outbound logistics operation for its Swedish parent but it is now playing a more active sales role.

Last September Bufab became an independently managed company, still owned by Nordic Capital but no longer within Finnveden, which now focuses entirely on the automotive sector. Bufab targets general industry across Europe.
At the time Bufab president Hans Bj�rstrand said the independent management “gives us new possibilities on markets where we have not been present earlier and further strengthens our overall position in Europe. Our strategy is to continue to expand in Europe during the coming years.” Subsequently Bufab acquired distributor M�ller & Wilde to expand in Eastern Europe. M�ller & Wilde employs 50 people in Austria and the Czech Republic and has annual sales around $12.5 million.
Specialist stainless steel bolt manufacturer Bufab – formerly Bulten Stainless – is also within Bufab.
Bufab supplies screws, nuts, washers and special parts. Bufab has sales of SEK 1.2 billion (US$154.6 million) and 450 employees in 11 countries.
