“Chicago remains a major industrial market and Elk Grove Village has one of the largest concentrations of manufacturing businesses in the world,” CEO Bob San Julian explained. “A location here gives us the opportunity to expand.”
Founded in 1966 in Brampton, Ontario, Brafasco is an industrial supply company specializing in fasteners, safety supplies and industrial tools and supplies. Brafasco has 20 branches in Canada and two in Michigan and annual revenues of CDN$40 million (US$32.2 million). Brafasco employs 200 people and is a portfolio company of Chicago-based private equity firm Glencoe Capital. Glencoe, which manages $950 million in assets for institutional investors, bought Brafasco as part of an earlier portfolio company, Kar Products, that the firm sold in 2003.
