Surging fastener demand from May to August helped Zurich, Switzerland-based Bossard report that net profit tripled to CHF$5.7 million (US$4.52 million). During the period, sales rose 19.5% to CHF$165.7 million, while operating profit doubled to CHF$9.3 million.
Despite a negative impact on net income from costs of expansion in China and seasonally lower sales, Bossard said business looks promising for the remainder of 2004. “Nevertheless, we are assuming that, as forecast in spring, we will at least double net income for the entire year,” the company said in a statement.
