Wiremaker BCS Industries acquired Solon, OH-based Cuyahoga Steel & Wire, increasing its overall wire processing capacity by 70% to 60,000 tons of steel per month. BCS, formerly Bluff City Steel, has renamed the plant BCS Cuyahoga, with 75 employees and $30 million in sales. Memphis, TN-based BCS also has steel plants in Maple Heights, OH, and Memphis, with a total of 103 employees. The capacity of BCS Cuyahoga will allow BCS to serve the large-diameter segment of the fastener industry. Vice president Mike Mayer told the Commercial Appeal that his company is now targeting Chicagos fastener segment, reportedly the largest multipurpose fastener market in the country.
