Guy Avellon was given the ASTM Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow for his work on the ASTM Committee F16 on Fasteners.
Avellon, president of GT Technical Consultants in Wauconda, IL, joined ASTM in 1980 and is chair of F1601 on Test Methods. He has been a member of committees A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel & Related Materials; B08 on Metallic & Inorganic Coatings; E08 on Fatigue & Fracture; and E28 on Mechanical Testing.
With F16 Avellon contributed to the development of standard test methods for bolts, washers, rivets and fasteners, and has been responsible for revisions. He has worked to harmonize standards with the International Organization for Standardization with ASTM.
Avellon is a consultant on failure analysis, process improvements and fastener training.
He previously was with Thermo-O-Disc, Lea-Ronal, Bowman Distribution and KAR Products.
