ASTM Approves New Hot-Dip Fastener Coating Standard
John Wolz
The ASTM International Commit-tee F16 on Fasteners has approved a new hot-dip zinc coating standard for applications to carbon and alloy steel fasteners.\
“This standard was created to address aspects of hot-dip galvanizing products and processes applying specifically to coated, ferrous fasteners that were not adequately addressed by other available standards,” senior fastener engineer for Dana Corporation Quentin Smith explained. The standard addresses coating on carbon steel and alloy steel bolts, screws, washers, nuts and special threaded fasteners applied by the hot-dip coating process.
