ACQUISITION: Würth Group Acquires Des Moines Bolt

The Würth Group announced it has acquired Des Moines Bolt of Iowa.
Founded in 1978 by the Simmer family, Des Moines Bolt becomes part of Würth Industry of North America’s industry division.
WINA is an assembly component distributor with eight companies and projected U.S. sales in 2016 of $700 million.
Des Moines Bolt has eight locations in Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska totaling 180,000 sq ft, 95 employees and 1,100 customers.
WINA executive vice president Marc Strandquist said the Des Moines Bolt acquisition “allows WINA to aggressively continue our strategy of expanding business west of the Mississippi River, as well as acquiring high quality, profitable companies.”
WINA’s 2013 sales totaled $325 million and Würth’s goal is $1 billion by 2020, Strandquist said.
“Würth’s global reach and product depth allows us to build on our one source convenience mentality,” president Keven Simmer said.
WINA now totals eight companies supplying OEMs with VMI with the proprietary brand – CPS C-Parts Solutions.
Des Moines Bolt joins seven other North American Würth companies: Würth Adams, Brooklyn Park, MN; Würth Revcar, Roanoke, VA; Würth Service Supply, Indianapolis; Würth Snider, Louisville, KY; Würth Timberline, Commerce City, CO; Marine Fastener, Sanford, FL; and Northern Safety & Industrial, Frankfort, NY.
Globally Würth had 2014 sales of EUR 10.12 billion (US$11.5b). Würth has 400 companies in 80 countries, 66,000 employees – including 30,000 in sales.
