Abbott Interfast Celebrates 75
Domestic fastener manufacturer and distributor Abbott Interfast is celebrating its 75th anniversary.
“Today we celebrate 75 years in the biz! Thank you to all of our employees, customers and business partners for keeping this four generation company thriving!” the company stated on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Founded in 1948 by Chicago industrialist Marty Binder, who believed in “Made in USA” manufacturing, Abbott Interfast began in a small factory across from the legendary Chicago restaurant Gene and Georgetti before eventually moving to its 5-acre facility in Wheeling, IL, where the company continues to manufacture at its 100,000 sq ft family-owned facility. (The company’s history is chronicled in a cover story by LINK Magazine.)
“Abbott has seen consistent growth for eight decades and has served more than 50,000 customers,” said CEO Bob Baer. “Innovation has always been the highest priority, but above all, our North Star has been an insane focus on quality, our customers, and our employees.”
Marty Binder was one of the founders and an early president of the Chicago Bolt, Nut & Screw Association – now known as the Mid-West Fastener Association. Richard Binder and three employees also have been MWFA presidents, including Baer, who was recently inducted into the International Fastener Expo Hall of Fame.
Today, Abbott Interfast and sister companies Abbott Metalwerks, Titan Metalwerks and Instock Fasteners produce a range of products, including fasteners, knobs and deck fastening systems. Next year, the company will launch a new retail concept.
Continuing to invest in U.S. manufacturing, Abbott Metalwerks recently introduced a “state-of-the-art” high-volume CNC factory within a factory, offering precision parts to more than 30 different industries, including aerospace, medical, marine, solar and automotive. Web: aicfast.com
