Purchasing Manager

Birmingham Fastener & Supply, Inc, is currently seeking a full-time Purchasing Manager.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in business management, operations, or a related field.

Knowledge of industrial fasteners required

10 years purchasing experience; 5 years steel procurement/steel market experience

Knowledge of engineering drawings and specifications

Negotiating skills

Knowledge of demand management and replenishment principles

Strong background utilizing ERP software for managing inventory levels and purchasing requirements.

Primary functions:

– Manage inventory levels to ensure corporate goals are maintained.

– Locate vendors of materials that can provide quality goods at competitive prices.

– Prepare and process purchase orders for supplies.

– Interview and hire staff, and oversee staff training.

– Analyze market and delivery systems in order to assess present and future material requirements and availability.

– Develop and implement purchasing instructions, policies, and procedures.

– Resolve vendor grievances and claims against suppliers.

– Negotiate pricing, contracts, and formulate policies with suppliers.

– Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials and supplies.

– Arrange for disposal of surplus materials.
