1987 FIN – Interfast Offering Only Domestic Fasteners

March 23, 1987 FIN – Interfast Associates Inc., Bensalem, Pennsylvania, has made a commitment to offer domestic fastener only in its new sales program. Company president Gary Baron tells FIN that “we want to offer an alternative; domestic product at prices that competitive with imports. We are stocking fasteners made in the United States only and will market them to distributors only.”

One of the product lines Interfast is currently stocking is hex head cap screws manufactured by the fastener division of Nucor Steel Co. in St. Joe., Indiana. Stock is maintained in grades 2, 5 and 8 in both plain and zinc plated. They are sold in both quarter kegs and standard package quantities.

The company is also selling A-325 structural bolts made by Nucor, which are available in full kegs.

In addition to the Nucor line, domestic flat washers and lock washers are offered from stock in quarter kegs and standard packages. “We have no exclusive on Nucor product nor are we an affiliate of Nucor,” says Baron, “however we are enthusiastic about the company.”

Interfast Associates was founded in 1979 by Gary and his father Ron Baron, who heads the sales team as vice president and has over 20 years in the industry.

Other members of the team include Bill Buckman, with manufacturing experience and six years selling to distributors, and John Townsend, with 15 years in the industry, 10 of them selling to distributors.
