1988 FIN – Eskay Opens New Plant and Headquarters in Wood Dale
June 27, 1988 FIN – Eskay Screw Products Corp. opened a new 140,000 sq ft manufacturing, administrative, tooling, maintenance facility in Wood Dale, Illinois, which will increase capacity by 50%.
Eskay president Morton Sennett credited a sound work ethic, producing a quality product for the right price and working after-hours or weekends, if that’s what it takes for Eskay’s 21 years of continued profitability.
Located just outside of Chicago, Eskay was previously in a four-building complex in Elk Grove Village.
Eskay’s new facility, which Sennett said cost about $5 million to build, sits on an 8.5 acre lot in Wood Dale. There is space for future expansion up to 50,000 sq ft.
With the addition of 12 new heading machines and 14 new employees, the plant can produce between 2 1/2 to 3 billion screws per year.
Senneth told FIN the company will change none of its traditional operating practices, which include running two shifts per day and stocking large inventories ready for immediate shipment.
Eskay became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Taylor, MI-based Masco Industries in 1972.
Sennett, who is one of the Eskay founders, told FIN that Eskay operates completely on its own.
Eskay manufactures a full line of ferrous and non-ferrous M/W, SMS, TCS, specials and proprietary thread-forming screws, including ES-Forms, ES-Grips, ES-Drills, Plask #1, #2 and Plask-Forms, a new tri-lobular screw. The company is also licensed to produce Torx and Supadriv fasteners.
The management team reporting to Sennett include E.J. “Skip” Stehle, former general manager of sales who’s been promoted to executive vice president; Tom Dye, vice president/manufacturing; Thomas Ferraro, controller; and Milt Cohen, director of finance.
Sennett told FIN that he and Stehle handle the sales and marketing responsibilities, but there are some other coming up through the ranks who may be taking some of those duties in the future.
Eskay’s new address is: 321 Foster Ave., Wood Dale, IL 60191. Tel: (312) 595-6250 Fax (312) 595-0336. ©1988/2010 Fastener Industry News
