Torque Software Released
The following is a press release provided to GlobalFastenerNews.com. Contact the individual company for additional information.
Advanced Witness Systems Ltd recently released a new torque wrench calibration and conformity software named Kepler 4. It is designed to comply with the new standard BS EN ISO 6789:2017 “Assembly Tools for Screws and Nuts – Hand Torque Tools” Parts 1 and 2; and replacing its predecessor Kepler 3.
ISO 6789:2017 Part 1: Conformity is similar to its predecessor ISO 6789:2003, with more detailed clarifications in certain areas such as the specified measuring range and torque tool scales, dials and displays. Compliance requires that a Declaration of Conformance must now be supplied with new tools. Kepler 4 fully complies with ISO 6789:2017 Part 1 automatically calculating the mean value and deviation for each setting as well as indicating by colour whether the individual readings are within tolerance; and providing fast conformance certificate generation and printing facilities.
ISO 6789:2017 Part 2: Calibration is new and concerns the calibration of the torque tool and requirements of the testing equipment. It introduces a set of calibration points including uncertainties which must now be accounted for during the calibration. These take into consideration variables such as the resolution of the tool display; reproducibility and repeatability of results; geometry of the tool output drives and variations in the force loading point when the tool is calibrated. Using new formulae Kepler 4 automatically calculates the mean deviation and combined uncertainty of each set of readings and displays it on a single screen. To increase productivity over time Kepler 4 also stores uncertainty values, and from the first time a tool is calibrated in order to reuse these values for subsequent calibrations of the same model, cutting down the number of operations required.
Kepler 4 comes in two parts “Conformity” for torque tool manufacturers and “Calibration” for those laboratories who calibrate torque wrenches. It is also available “Combined” with both parts of the program, depending on customer requirements.
Kepler 4 includes a new works orders database which ties together the customer, tool, reading and certificate providing efficient searching of historic calibrations and full traceability. Cloning facilities, COM Port data input and barcode scan input speed up multiple data entry. Both versions of Kepler 4 can be operated using ISO 6789:2003 or in-house standards to allow a phased migration to ISO 6789:2017. Additionally, Kepler 4 provides report production facilities for effortlessly keeping track of calibrated tools, tools requiring calibration and retest periods. Kepler 4 also provides facilities to generate bespoke calibration / conformity certificate templates and labels templates using database reference fields to automatically track calibration / conformity data and include it in certificates and labels meaning templates only have to be generated once.
Compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 10.
