British Metalformers Study Cost Reductions
John Wolz
The 2001 Confederation of British Metalforming technical conference will focus on affordable opportunities.
The conference will be October 12, 2001, at the National Metalforming Centre in the West Midlands.
There are sessions on hot forging, fastener production and sheet metalforming. Each session will begin with speakers on strategic insight into the market, followed by papers on equipment, processes and materials.
“With the Climate Change Levy now penalizing metalforming companies, the final plenary session includes a review of practical energy conservation measures, including an objective look at payback periods for areas of possible investment and a look at how simple management systems can keep a lid on your fuel bills,” director general Neil Marshall said.
Conference topics include: Cost reductions, process monitoring; 3D stimulation software, energy conservation, global standardization and automotive perspectives on continuous improvement trends, fully automatic forging, consistent material properties; high speed machining and maximizing tool life.
