LAFA Features U.S. Fastener Manufacturing Panel
Jason Sandefur
“Fastener Manufacturing in the U.S. Today,” is the subject of a panel discussion at the upcoming Los Angeles Fastener Association dinner meeting on March 3 in La Mirada, CA.
“With newly industrialized countries in the Pacific Rim entering the fastener market in a big way, and some expanded export opportunities to Mexico, Canada, Europe and South America, the fastener industry has been undergoing a fundamental change,” according to the LAFA. “Consolidation has led to ever larger companies, and the largest U.S. fastener manufacturers are becoming more involved in the global arena, seeking export business and making foreign acquisitions.”
The U.S. fastener industry has an estimated 350 manufacturing facilities with 40,000 workers. More than 200 billion fasteners are consumed annually in the U.S.
Panelists include Jamie Lawrence of AVK Industrial Products; Ryan McCaffrey of R&D Fasteners; and Russell Hendee of Semblex Corp.
