Robert J. “Bob” Dotter, 73, died September 4, 2016. He was founder and for 23 years the owner of Dotter Fastener Corporation of Columbus, OH.
Survivors include wife Judy Dotter; son Tod Dotter; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be 10 a.m. September 9, 2016 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 McCoy Road.

Wayne Allen Conners, 55, owner at Hi-Tech Fasteners in Maryland, died August 10, 2016 in Florida.

Vance Ecton “V.E.” Rule, 91, died July 10, 2016 in Oklahoma.
His career started with JC Penny, Sinclair Oil and West Bend Aluminum. In 1963, he purchased a nut and bolt supply company and began delivering fasteners to industry from his station wagon – which was the beginning of The Rule Company. He had been a member of the Southwestern Fastener Assoiation board.
Survivors include his wife Elizabeth Johnson Rule; his children, Randall Rule, Bruce Rule, Richard Rule and Patricia Rule Banks; 14 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Shirley, and son John Rule.

Robert Swann “Bobby” Wilkinson, 71, president and owner of Structural Bolt & Manufacturing Inc. of Tennessee died June 27, 2016.
Survivors include spouse Kathleen Wilkinson; daughter Amanda Bicsak; and son Nathan Wilkinson; and three grandchildren.

Stanley Warren “Butch” Holt, 74, died May 1, 2016. He worked for Avdel and Fast Bolt for many years, including being director of global business development. He also owned Stanley Holt & Associates Inc.
Survivors include his wife, Andrea Sciro; four children: Tamblyn Abrusci (Vito), Timothy Holt, Erica Letos (Peter) and Jennifer Marks (Robert); three step children Thomas and Andrew Sciro, Noelle Reverendo (Lee); 10 grandchildren; former spouses Darlene Vance and Janice Elias; and two siblings.

William G. Armstrong, 79, died February 18, 2016. Owned MPT Fastener Corp. of Ohio with Bill Armstrong Jr.

Roger Francis Crosby, 70, died January 19, 2016, after a brief illness. He had headed aerospace fastener supplier New York Fasteners Corp (NYF Corp.) until it was acquired by larger competitor B/E Aerospace in 2007. He subsequently founded Densor Corp., a technology transfer firm targeting large infrastructure projects in China
He held a chemical engineering degree from the University of Dayton. .
Survivors include his wife, Glenna; and sons Iyan and William.

John Arthur Jukes, 84, mechanical engineer, founder of thread repair system Time-Sert and owner of Time Fastener Co., died December 1, 2015, in Hawaii.
Survivors include two sons, William Jukes and Michael Jukes of Nevada; a daughter, Jill Wagner of Hawaii; and five grandchildren.

Edward “Ed” Joffe, 94, one of 18 founding members of the Specialty Tool & Fasteners Distributors Association died November 28, 2015. In 1959 he started Automatic Fasteners in Miami by distributing one product – a gun designed with a rotating barrel to shoot eight nails or fasteners without reloading. In 1967 his company was acquired by Allied Products and Automatic Fasteners became a national tool and fastener distributor of construction products. He retired in 1987 and became a volunteer counselor with Service Corps of Retired Executives.
James E. “Jim” Marshall, 80, founder of J&E Supply and Fasteners Co. Inc., died November 16, 2015.
He started his career in his father’s farm implement business and then industrial hardware business with his brother. With his wife, Mary, they founded J&E Supply from their Oklahoma City home. J&E Supply marked its 45th anniversary in August.
Survivors include his wife; sons Jimmy and Mike (Jennifer); three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Arthur “Art” Salani, founder and president of Global Fastener & Supply Inc. in 1985, died October 29, 2015. He had been a National Fastener Distributors Association board member from 1995 to 1998. He was also president of Grease Fittings Solutions. His company won numerous awards, include the Huffy Sports ‘Partner of the Year’ award and Lifetime products “Supplier of the Year.”
Survivors include his spouse, Susan; and children Chris and Art.
A visitation at the Funeral Home on Monday, November 9 from 3 to 7 pm. Services will be Tuesday, November 10 at Cross of Life Lutheran Church, 20700 W. North Ave., Brookfield, WI.

Mary Ann Langholz, 83, executive director of the National Fastener Distributors Association from 1976 to 1990, died October 24, 2015.
In addition to her NFDA role, she had been a high school teacher and television personality for Columbus Public Schools. President Gerald Ford awarded her the Foundation Freedom Medal and she received the alumni achievement award from Capital University.
Survivors include her husband, Armin P. Langholz; son Kevin and daughter Lori; and six grandchildren.
Memorial service will be Friday, October 30, 2015, at Christ Lutheran Church in Bexley, OH. Visitation is 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Evans Funeral Home, 4171 E. Livingston, Columbus, OH 43227.

Michael Caesar, 55, died October 11, 2015. He started working for Barbarotto International Machinery in 1982, shortly after Fred Barbarotto started the fastener machinery company.
“Over the years, he became a highly respected salesman for Barbarotto, and was universally liked by all the customers who worked with him. Mike was not only knowledgeable about the equipment and capabilities, but he was always good for a laugh, as well!” according to a company statement.
Survivors include wife Kathleen; son Max and daughter Samantha.

Ralph S. Shoberg P.E., 75, died October 5, 2015, He is credited as the father of the rotary torque transducer to measure assembly torque dynamically, and the wheel force transducer for vehicle road load data.
After graduating from the University of Michigan, he was a test engineer for Easton Aerospace and then co-founded GSE Inc., a test/measurement firm where he led developed a test system for testing threaded fasteners for torque vs. tension and calculating undressed and thread friction coefficients.
He founded RS Technologies where he developed the patented M-Alpha analysis method for determining clamp load through analysis of torque vs. angle signatures. He also brought the German engineering standard of VDI 2230 to the Wndows desktop for calculating the stresses in critical bolted joints by SR1 software.
He was a member of SAE, where he was involved in study of wheel lug nut design and tightening and analyzing the bolted joint assembly process and development of equipment for the dual mechanical testing of threaded fasteners.
The Industrial Fasteners Institute honored him with its Soaring Eagle Award in 2013.
Robert “Bob” Truckey Sr., 85, died September 25, 2015. He and his wife, Colleen, founded Cal Fasteners Inc. in 1975.
Two sons joined him in the business: Robert Truckey Jr. and Joseph Truckey.
Survivors include Colleen and sons; daughters Marilyn Goodwin, Barbara Bonenfant, Michelle Reitmeyer and Laurie Green; 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Orange, CA at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 1.

Barbara Ann Saviano, 60, founder of Fasteners By Design and a past board member of the Mid-West Fastener Association, died September 21, 2015.
Survivors include husband Dennis Saviano; son Dan Saviano and daughter Laura Hollis; and four grandchildren.

Grant R. Rich, 61, spouse of Nancy Rich, died September 1, 2015 at their home.
Nancy Rich is executive director of the Mid-West Fastener Association, Southeastern Fastener Association, New England Fastener Association and Metropolitan Fastener Association.
Survivors include three children: Grant Rich, Lindsey Rich and Lauren Rich.

Grant Baird, 81, died August 9, 2015. His sales career started with Star Expansion in Mountainville, NY. He was involved in bringing metric to the U.S. in roles with Bultin Kanthal, Fontana and Bossard in the 1970’s and 80’s.
In 1993 with his wife, Esther, and daughter, Jennifer, he started Hampton Roads Nut & Bolt Co. Inc. The company is now Hampton Roads Fastener & Construction Supply Inc. and is owned by his son, Sean Baird. His grandson, Shane Baird, has become the third generation in the family business.
He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Patricia Baird.
Survivors include his wife, Esther LaBarr; daughters Lisa Baker, Lori Smith and Jennifer Baird; son Sean Baird; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Larry Russell Mills, 72. Since 2013 he has handled outside sales for XL Screw. His fastener roles also included being vice president of sales & marketing for Brico Industries. He was active in the Mid-West Fastener Association.

Stephen Andrew “Steve” Williams, 58, vice president of marketing department at Winzer, died July 16, 2015.

Brian G. Lilly, 45, died July 9, 2015. He was vice president of purchasing for Kenneth G. Lilly Fasteners Inc. of Delaware.

Frank Condon, 85, died June 1, 2015. He was of founder and owner of Hillsdale Terminal in Michigan. He retired in 2000. His career also included Alcoa, Owens Illinois, Corning and Vaco Products.
Survivors include wife Barbara Ann Clark; six children, Frank Condon, Jim Condon, Linda Deck, Lori Atkins, Tom Condon and John Condon; 15 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Eymard J. “Ed” Wisnewski, 86, founder of Mobile Fastener Company in 1963, died May 26, 2015.
He recently retired and now his son, Mark Wisnewski, owns and operates the Illinois distributorship.
In addition to selling fasteners, he rode brahma bulls in rodeos.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; sons Mark Wisnewski and Paul Wisnewski; and two grandchildren.

Michael Jeffrey “Jeff” Podshadley, 54, died May 24, 2015. Podshadley started in fasteners in 1980 and over his 35-year career included Reynolds Fasteners, Partsmaster and Infasco, Brighton-Best International, Interstate Threaded Products and All State Fasteners. He was on the Southwestern Fastener Association board from 1999 to 2002 and 2007 to 2010.

William Darwin Wedgwood, 92, died April 19, 2015, at his home in Lebanon, NH.
In 1948, he joined Stamford, CT-based Boots Aircraft Self-Locking Nut Corp. as production manager and then assistant to the executive VP. In 1952, he was appointed to serve on the National Aircraft Standards Committee by the Navy Bureau of Aeronautics.
Wedgwood joined Marson Fastener Corp. of Chelsea, MA, in 1964 and retired as VP in 1988.
During his career he served on the board of the Industrial Fasteners Institute for 12 years and was listed in Who’s Who in Commerce and Industry.
He was predeceased by his wife, Bertha. Survivors include daughter Dawn Forbes Dickson; sons William and Robert Wedgwood; and two granddaughters.
Private burial will be in the family plot in North Woodbury, CT.

Nelson Kerr Reid, 86, died April 19, 2015, in North Carolina. He started as a sales rep for Ideal Fastener and later became an independent manufacturer’s representative for nine fastener companies.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, June; two daughters, Melanie Reid Soles and Emily Reid McDonald; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Robin Faulconer Reid.

Jason Russell Surber, 44, died in hospice care on March 27, 2015. He was president of ATF Inc, chairman of EAFM of Mexico and served on the Industrial Fasteners Institute board.
He held a bachelors degree from DePauw University, law degree from John Marshall Law School and an MBA from Northwestern University.
He was active in Christ Church Lake Forest, the Young President’s Organization, Exmoor Country Club and Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.
Survivors include his wife, Kirsten Surber; daughters Addison, Charlotte and Tatum; parents Don and Nancy Surber; and two brothers, Ryan Surber and Kyle Surber.

John Phillip Zehnder, 76, retired president Earnest Machine, died of cancer on April 6, 2015.
Earnest Machine was founded by John’s father, Paul Zehnder, in 1948. John started working at Earnest in his teens, before attending Concordia Teachers College and becoming a band director and high school teacher in Chicago for six years. He returned to Earnest in Cleveland in 1967 as a $3 an hour clerk and advanced through purchasing, reworking orders, sales and at age 32 in 1974 he became president. He retired in 2011 and was succeeded by his son, Kirk Zehnder.
He was known for his love of music and theater, which led to directing plays at St. Paul Lutheran Church and teaching music to elementary students. He was the founding director of the Lutheran Wind Ensemble.
Survivors include four children, Keli, Heidi, Kirk and Meghan; 10 grandchildren; and a brother, James Zehnder.

George Joseph Ludington, 69, died April 3, 2015, of cancer. He was the past president and owner of Universal Fastener & Supply in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

James F. Braden, 83, who died April 2, 2015, was co-author of “Mechanical Fastening of Plastics” and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Fastener Standards Committee.

Thomas R. Boyd, 91, inventor of the Boyd Bolt, died March 4, 2015, in Southern California.
He earned a mechanical engineering degree from Bradley University and completed graduate work at UCLA and Harvard. With partners, he founded Tridair Industries, which grew to over 400 employees manufacturing aerospace products for NASA missions and the Concorde.
He patented the Boyd Bolt fastener mentioned on live television coverage of Apollo 12 on November 19, 1969. Astronaut Alan Bean said, “Houston, you can log me for my first Boyd Bolt on the Moon” prompting Walter Cronkite to scramble to explain both fastener and inventor.
The Boyd Bolt also enjoyed a comedic cameo in a scene in the HBO miniseries “From the Earth to the Moon.”
He was preceded in death by his wife Carol.
Survivors include son, Rennie; daughters Carolyn, Wendy and Christina; and four grandchildren.

Ruth Ringel Mintz, 100, died January 27, 2015. With her husband, Isadore (Izzy) Mintz, daughter Mildred Werner and son-in-law Ed Werner, the four founded E Z Sockets in 1978. She retired from E Z Sockets at age 99.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991.
Survivors include three daughters, Carla Roberts, Beth Mintz and Mildred Werner; and four grandchildren.

Lawrence J. “Larry” Stefan, 79, died February 6, 2015, in Illinois. He was the founder and owner of Bradley Coatings of St. Charles, IL.

Jimmy Randolph Spruill Sr., 87, died January 30, 2015. He was the owner of JJ Fasteners Inc. and the 1989-90 president of the Southeastern Fastener Association.
Survivors include his wife Janet; daughters Deborah Spruill Hundley and Margaret Anne Spruill Hurst; and son Jimmy Randolph Spruill, Jr. and wife Karen; and six grandchildren.

Wayne Leroy Simmer, 72, died January 30, 2015. As a CPA he started his career in accounting and in 1978 he opened Des Moines Bolt Supply. He managed the Iowa distributorship until turning it over to his children in 2012.
Survivors include his wife, Toni; four children: Stacey (Dave) Lyman, Steffaney (Brad) Cronin, Kent (Rich Reese) Simmer and Keven (Jessica) Simmer; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Richard F. “Dick” Knobloch, 83, died January 27, 2015, in Indiana.
In 1967 he started a fastener distribution company in Atlanta and later opened another business, which eventually was sold to Service Supply Co. in Indianapolis.
After moving to Columbus, IN in 1995, he worked for Service Supply as vice president and general manger of structural sales until his retirement. He chaired and was an honorary member of the ASTM Committee F16 on Fasteners and was also on ASTM Committee AO1 (stainless steel).
Survivors include his wife, Ann; daughter, Jane (Gordon) Smith of Littleton, Colorado; son, Mark (Susan) of Belton, Texas; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Steve. Web: barkesweaverglick.com
Harold W. “Goodie” Best, 70, died January 27, 2015. He had been the owner/operator of Best Fastener & Supply of Kansas City, MO.

Paul Edward Morath, 68, died suddenly January 5, 2015, in Detroit.
His career started as a CPA at Price-Waterhouse. He started in fasteners with Cold Heading Company, an automotive fastener company in Detroit, in the finance department and eventually became COO. He later joined Ring Screw Company and went into a partnership to form Shamrock Precision Fasteners. Ring Screw and Shamrock were eventually sold to Textron. After retiring he helped start Shannon Precision Fasteners and still held the title of president emeritus.
Survivors include wife, Pamela; children, David (Laurie), Daniel (Nicole), Julie Contat (Kevin) and Jill Osborn (Christian); and 10 grandchildren.
