PennEngineering Executes Court Seizure Action Against Exhibitor at NIFS/lWest
John Wolz
PennEngineering announced it has executed a seizure action against FinExpress Fastener Co. Ltd. of Guangzhou, China during the National Industrial Fastener Show/West in Las Vegas. FinExpress was an exhibitor at the November 3-4, 2008, trade show.
PennEngineering said the action enforces an U.S. District Court of Nevada order granting a default judgment and permanent injunction against FinExpress. The judgment was a result of FinExpress’s failure to respond to a complaint filed by PennEngineering in November 2007, which claimed FinEx infringed on one of PennEngineering’s trademarks.
The District Court ruled PennEngineering was entitled to monetary damages and ordered FinExpress to cease infringement.
PennEngineering said the action is part of an ongoing strategy to protect intellectual property, including patents, brand names, product markings, logos and copyrights. PennEngineering invests heavily to develop products and the actions “are aimed at protecting PennEngineering customers, assuring that they are receiving genuine PEM products,” according to a company statement.
Danboro, PA-based PennEngineering develops and manufactures PEM self-clinching, broaching, weld and surface mount fasteners; SI inserts for plastics; and Atlas, SpinTite and PlusTite blind threaded inserts. Fastener installation equipment includes Pemserter automatic and manual precision presses, In-Die and robotics capabilities, the StickScrew System for small-screw insertion and Atlas tools.
