PPG Acquires Vanex
John Wolz
PPG Industries acquired coatings manufacturer Vanex Inc.
Founded in 1964, privately-held Vanex supplies Plascron and Breakthrough brand water-based industrial coatings for metal, plastic and wood in the structural steel, building systems, construction and fabricated metals industries. Vanex operates a plant in Mount Vernon, IL, and employs 20 people.
The acquisition expands PPG capabilities and technology in the PPG TrueFinish industrial coatings business, general manager Keith Prins said.
PPG senior vice president for coatings William Wulfsohn said the Vanex coatings “are a strong complement” to PPG’s TrueFinsh products.
The PPG TrueFinish business provides a range of liquid and powder coatings to manufacturers, custom coaters and distributors throughout North America. PPG supplies coatings, paints, chemicals, optical products, specialty materials, glass and fiberglass. PPG has 150 manufacturing facilities and equity affiliates and operates in more than 60 countries. PPG is headquartered at One PPG Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15272. Tel: 800 627-6015. Web: ppg.com
