Porteous Integrating E.K. Fastener Operations
Porteous Integrating E.K. Fastener Operations
Jason Sandefur
Porteous Fastener Co. and E.K. Fasteners are merging operations. The Houston E.K. branch is closing, and all operations will be consolidated into the PFC’s Houston facilities. All E.K. employees are expected to join the PFC team there.
Conversely, the PFC Carson branch near Los Angeles will move into the 90,000 sq ft E.K. building. Current PFC management – regional manager Kevin Chavis and branch manager Irene Brockelmeyer – will lead this combined team in Santa Fe Springs.
The Carson location will remain as the main distribution center for PFC and will continue to house the corporate offices.
Porteous said it has already moved over 50 truckloads of stock into the E.K. warehouse, increasing that inventory by several million pounds. Containers from overseas have been re-directed straight into Santa Fe Springs, bypassing Carson altogether to streamline the receiving of goods.
Porteous acquired E.K. in November 2006 through a “handshake” deal in November 2006 between CEO Barry Porteous EK founder Yasuharu Kitigami. Porteous bought the inventory and fixed assets of E.K., assumed leases and hired all E.K. employees. EK was founded in 1968.
Porteous is a master distributor and importer with 16 North American branches and is headquartered at 1040 Watson Center Rd., Carson, CA 90745-4227. Tel: 800 426-6887 Fax 310 835-0415 E-mail: sales@porteousfastener.com Web: porteousfastener.com 2008 FastenerNews.com
