Several records are being set this week at the National Industrial Fastener Show/West at its new Mandalay Bay location in Las Vegas. Final registration numbers to be announced after the show may add to the records too.
The show directory lists 688 exhibiting companies totaling 821 booths. The previous NIFS record was 653 booths in 1996 in Columbus. There were 554 exhibiting companies with 640 booths at NIFS/West in 2006 at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel.
The 1998 NIFS total registration record may fall as well. Just the staffing for the additional 200 booths should push total registration from last year’s 5,154 to over the 5,226 record set in Columbus.
In October show manager Susan Hurley reported advance registration for the 11th annual West show “running well ahead of previous years.”
Booth prices, furnishings and hotel rates are at record highs for NIFS too.
Booths prices ranged from $1,695 to $1,795. At $209 the official NIFS host hotel “run of the house rooms” at Mandalay Bay are up 40.3% from the Paris Hotel in 2006. Prices on advance orders for basic furniture and accessories rose 6.8% for exhibitors.
