Swedish Group Acquires Spanish Distributor; Aims to Grow Globally

Swedish fastener group Bufab acquired Suminox S.I. operations in Spain.

Suminox distributes industrial fasteners and specializes in stainless steel and reported 2006 sales of SEK 90 million (US$13.3m), 27 employees and warehouses in Barcelona, Madrid, Sevilla and Bilbao.

Suminoz will now operate as Suminox Bufab S.I. Former owners Joan Gimenez Alberto and Carles Seijo Camats remain as managing directors.

Bufab is an independently managed company owned by Nordic Capital.

Bufab CEO Hans Bj�rstrand said the acquisition “gives us new possibilities in a market where we have not been present earlier and further strengthens our overall position in Europe. Our strategy is to continue to expand during the coming years to become a leading supplier of fasteners worldwide.”

Bufab supplies screws, nuts, washers and special parts, with sales of SEK 1.7 billion (US$25.1 million) and 550 employees. Bufab supplies products from East Asia and Europe and its own plants in Sweden: Vanamo, Svarta and Ashammar and has sales offices in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Germany, France, the Netherlands, UK, Poland, Estonia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Spain and China and is headquartered at Stenfalksvagen 1, 33141 Varnamo, Sweden.
